Simon Armitage talks about and reads poems A-Level students are studying
In a very special event for secondary schools across East Devon, A-Level students had the unique opportunity to hear the Poet Laureate Simon Armitage read poetry they are studying on the curriculum. On 1st March Simon delivered the event at St Peter’s Church Budleigh with students from Colyton Grammar School, Exeter School and Exmouth Community College attending free of charge – with costs covered by the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival as part of our outreach work.
‘Thank you so much for organising what was a fantastic event,’ said Nick Wakeling, Assistant Head at Colton Grammar School.’ Such a brilliant opportunity for our students, who have been buzzing about it since. We really appreciate all of the Festival’s work with schools.’
The event, which formed part of the Festival’s Spring Weekend, was one of several events with authors this year designed to inspire children to a life-long love of reading.
