Leading children's author Emma Carroll inspires students at Sidmouth College and Exmouth Community College

The Festival was delighted to welcome the award-winning children’s author to talk about her latest book Escape from the River Sea, inspired by the world of Eve Ibbotson. She talked about her writing to Yr 7 students at Sidmouth College, and then to Yr 7s at Exmouth Community College. ‘I had such a lovely time at both schools – the staff and students were so welcoming,’ she said. Emma, who is based in Somerset, is the author of several highly acclaimed books.

Her visit is part of the Festival’s on-going charitable outreach work aimed at inspiring children to have a life-long love of reading. The Festival gave each school a free class set of books.
