Loads of Fun for Families

BUD Soc med Kids

This year's programme for kids is packed with ideas to keep everyone entertained and inspired! We kick off with our Jubilee Right Royal Ramble Heath Week Trail from 23rd to 24th July - you can pick up clues to find favourite characters from 70 years of children's books. Then onward to Festival week 14th-18th September - and this year our events for families are either FREE or from just £1 so that everyone can enjoy a brilliant time with some very favourite authors and activities. Cat Weatherill returns with her enchanting storytelling, and we've got Aardman back for more Model making fun and this year you can create Lu-La, Timmy the lamb or the villainous Feathers McGraw. This is bound to sell out fast!

Kristina Stephenson brings her Museum of Marvelous Things - a wonderfully interactive hour that includes dressing up and a LIVE band. Then you can draw along with Steve Lenton as he shares the latest in his Genie and Teeny series. Steve Butler brings spooks that need help, and local author Triona Harris will share her two books with the chance to  plant your own tree seeds or create your favourite rainbow.

And to mark Platty Joobs we've two days of FREE drop in events with craft and games celebrating 70 years of children's book characters. Find us in the Mini Marquee on both 17th and 18th September.

There's our pop up Waterstones bookshop, a book trail, and refreshments to refuel flagging book lovers. You can see the whole children's offering here - and we're looking forward to seeing you!
