ONLINE ONLY – RECORDING OF A PAST LIVE EVENT. IT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO WATCH FROM 9.00AM ON MONDAY 26 SEPTEMBER TO 10PM ON SUNDAY 8 OCTOBER 2023
Hilary Mantel, Ben Miles (the stage adaptation’s Thomas Cromwell), and his brother photographer George Miles, spent many years exploring the locations Thomas Cromwell visited and inhabited – Putney, Austin Friars, Wolf Hall, the Tower of London – to capture the faint traces of Tudor England and his extraordinary life. The experience is catalogued in a picture book with photography, extracts from The Wolf Hall Trilogy, and an essay by its author. Ben and George will talk about images that reveal a world that is shadowy, frightening, sometimes whimsical – a portrait of a country in conversation with its past – and their experience of working so closely with Hilary on the project.
