Young Poets Competition

2019 Young Poets Competition

POETRY COMPETITION WINNERS

A Poem about Space

WINNER: Elizabeth Wheeler (6)

The moon is not made of cheese,
It is made of very hard rock.
Not what Wallace and Gromit think.
If they went there they’d get a shock!

The moon is not made of cheese,
There are no aliens there.
Although aliens do love underpants
So at least their bottoms wouldn’t be bare!

The Moon is not made of cheese
And dinosaurs can’t really poop planets.
Surely it’s not made of cheese,
It simply can’t be, can it?

RUNNERS-UP: Fin Brownlie (10) and James Stevens (8)
