Simon Armitage CBE

Musings from the Poet Laureate’s Shed

Available to view at 2pm only, Wednesday 16th September 2020

Simon invites you into his writing shed in the Pennine Hills for a special virtual poetry reading, following the success of his BBC Radio 4 series, The Poet Laureate Has Gone to His Shed. His latest book, Magnetic Field, gathers together his poems on Marsden, the Yorkshire village where he grew up and began life as a writer.

Armitage’s numerous accolades include the 2018 Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry and an Ivor Novello Award for song-writing in the BAFTA-winning film Feltham Sings. This year his band, Land Yacht Regatta (LYR), recorded his poem Lockdown as a track featuring the actress Florence Pugh and in aid of the charity Refuge.

This event is only available at this time and will not remain on the website.
