Sarah Winman and Vanessa Nicolson

Two Sides To The Story

Date: Friday 21st September 2018
Venue: Public Hall | 2pm
Tickets: £12

Two celebrated writers look at how a story – fiction or fact – can be told from two perspectives, and how this impacts on the reader.

Sarah Winman is the author of the international bestseller When God Was a Rabbit and the Sunday Times top ten bestseller A Year of Marvellous Ways. In her latest novel, Tin Man, she tells the story of an intense three-way relationship from the viewpoint of two protagonists.

Vanessa Nicolson is the granddaughter of Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson. In her sequel to the highly acclaimed memoir, Have You Been Good?, she tells of the game she played with her father in which they take turns to ask a question and the other must answer truthfully. The result is shocking.

The Truth Game is both a haunting exploration of love and loss, and a portrait of one of Britain’s most eminent families, distilling the concept of truth with shocking and moving consequences.
