Rachel Joyce and Niamh Cusack

The Meaning of Friendship

Available to view from 5pm, Saturday 19th September 2020

The author of the Sunday Times and international bestsellers, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy, and the leading RSC, stage, film and TV (Heartbeat) actress get together for a searching discussion about the nature of friendship. It’s a subject at the heart of Rachel Joyce’s acclaimed new novel about the intrepid Miss Benson who, in a moment of madness, abandons her sensible job and advertises for an assistant to accompany her on an expedition to the other side of the world to search for a beetle. The two lifelong friends will explore what friendship brings and what makes it last, and ask how and why male and female friendships differ.
