Almshouses are coming to Budleigh

Following on from the fliers distributed at last year’s festival, this local project is now well underway, Works to build Budleigh’s first almshouses start on the old cottage site next to Seachange in the last week of May.
Affordable accommodation for older local people in need.
OPENING IN 2026
The aim of almshouses has remained largely unchanged since Saxon times: to allow older people of limited means to remain living in their local area, thereby maintaining balanced, stable communities. This is particularly important in places like the West Country where house prices and rents have become unaffordable for so many.
