Comedy Classics – The Children of Jocasta

Date: Thursday 20th September 2018
Venue: Public Hall | 2pm
Tickets: £10

Writer, broadcaster, reviewer and classicist, Natalie was once a stand-up comic, but retired when she realised she preferred tragedy to comedy.

With her unique ability to bring the Classics to life, she takes a fresh perspective on an ancient story in her latest book, The Children of Jocasta, reimagining in gripping prose how the Oedipus and Antigone stories would look if the oft-overlooked female characters took centre stage, retelling the myth to reveal a new side of an ancient story.

As well as regularly appearing on Radio 4 and writing for publications including The Guardian, she has been a judge for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year, The Women’s Prize for Fiction, and the Man Booker Prize.
