Kirsty Gunn and Chris Power

Keeping It Short

Date: Thursday 20th September 2018
Venue: Temple Church | 11am
Tickets: £10

Most writers agree that the short story is one of the most difficult writing forms, demanding immense skill and precision. Two highly-talented writers will talk about how they make their short stories complete and compact, whilst drawing you into the tale.

Kirsty Gunn has written five works of fiction and her latest full length novel is Caroline’s Bikini. Her books have been broadcast, turned into film and dance theatre, and her awards include the Scottish Arts Council Book of the Year.

Chris Power’s stories in Mother are peopled by men and women who find themselves at crossroads or dead ends, and he takes us from wild Exmoor to ancient Sweden laying bare the emotional and psychic damage of life, love and abandonment.
