Our Blog

An important part of the Festival’s work as a charity is taking authors and illustrators to schools, free of charge, to talk to children and young people of all ages about their work and inspire children to read and enjoy books.

In 2019 we worked with more authors than ever, including former Children's Laureate Chris Riddell, and during 2020 we offered a programme of online events free for schools and families to watch from home during Covid restrictions. Authors featured included:

Martin Brown, Emma Carroll, Juno Dawson, Devon Glover Sonet Man, Emily Gravett, Matt Oldfield, Onjali Q Raúf and Alex Wheatle OBE.

Our sincere thanks go to the Fryer Trust and the Norman Family Trust, our sponsors, who recognise how important this work is and enable us to continue this important outreach work.
