Marina Warner DBE
Inventory of a Life Mislaid
The highly acclaimed and multi-award-winning writer of fiction, non-fiction and short stories, and the first female president of the Royal Society of Literature, joins us to talk about her evocative new book which she describes as an 'unreliable memoir'. It considers her childhood in Egypt, sparked by the discovery of an old map of Cairo, and pieces together the reckonings and discoveries her Italian mother and English father made during the first years of their marriage. In her characteristically beautiful prose, the book powerfully resurrects the fraught union and unrequited hopes of Warner’s parents and memory intertwines richly with myth and vivid recollections of Cairo.
Because of Covid restrictions, books purchased with your ticket will include a book plate signed by the author.
