KEHINDE ANDREWS - ANITA SETHI

Who am I? A Case of Misunderstood Identity

Venue: Public Hall

15 Sep 2021 12:00 pm

Movements such as Black Lives Matter, the death of George Floyd, online and sports field racism and controversy about trans rights have pushed the question about identity and belonging right to the forefront of the international conversation. The first Professor of Black Studies will be joining Anita Sethi, whose experience of racial hatred on a train journey impelled her to explore our natural landscapes to discover Britain, her home, outlined in her book I Belong Here. They will talk about how we frame identity, how we get comfortable with ourselves, how we accept our backstory and, most importantly, how we all can learn to be tolerant of the identity of others.
