Tyndale 500: The Book That Changed A Nation

In 1526, the first English New Testaments, translated by William Tyndale, were smuggled into England aboard merchant ships. This quiet act of defiance became the catalyst for a wider rebellion.
Tyndale’s translation, written in language ordinary people could understand, challenged the authority of church and state and helped reshape English society. Its influence echoed through centuries of culture, politics and identity, and still shapes the language we use today.
Five hundred years later, join Lee Emerson, Steve Owen and Ian Margeson of Scott Drive Church, Exmouth, for a fascinating illustrated talk exploring the story, impact and enduring legacy of the book that changed a nation.
