‘By now I ought to know that wind. It smells of other places. It promises danger, and sunlight, and joy.’

The author of the best-selling Chocolat, made into a film starring Juliette Binoche, returns with the fourth in the series that began with the story of Vianne Rocher and her daughters, Anouk and Rosette, in the French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes which has finally become their home. But when old Narcisse, the florist, dies, leaving a parcel of land to Rosette and a written confession to the village priest, the life of the sleepy village is once more thrown into disarray.

A prolific writer – including screenplays and the libretti for two operas – and prize judge, Joanne Harris MBE has many superb dishes to bring to the literary table.
