Closing the Festival with a bang will be the multi-award-winning author of the million-selling book This is Going To Hurt which revisits his former career as a junior doctor. It had a record-breaking nine months at number one in the charts, and over a year in the top ten, and was winner of a record four National Book Awards.

Adam Kay is currently adapting it as a major comedy-drama for BBC Two. He’ll talk about a stellar career beyond the scrubs as a writer and script editor for Mitchell & Webb, Very British Problems, Mrs Brown’s Boys, and Crims amongst others, as a re-writer of hit Broadway musicals for transfer to the West End, and as a Sunday Times columnist.

When not writing, he’s an award-winning live performer, selling out multiple Edinburgh Fringe runs, West End seasons and UK and international tours.

He’ll give us a sneak peek at his new novel, Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas, a glimpse behind the blue curtain at Christmastime.
